What is Real Estate about?

Real estate is all around us; the houses we sleep in, the office we work in, the malls we shop in; these are all classified as real estate and are major investment assets. As land becomes scarcer, real estate has the abilities to grow one’s wealth and value. Hence, it is often regarded as a vital component in the creation of one country’s wealth and development. Often times, the first thing most people think when uttered the words real estate as a choice of study, they will say ‘oh, real estate agent ah?’ Yes, it is true; people who study real estate can become a real estate agent. However, it is much more than that as well. Equipped with a tertiary education in real estate, the course allows the exploration of the property sector as a whole such as development and planning, commercial property appraisal and management or investment and finance; allowing students to acquire the skills needed to move into their preferred part of the industry. Real estate is an interesting specialised study because whilst students are specialised in the field, they are required to have knowledge in different fields of study as well such as economics, law and finance.

What are the requirements to study the course?

  • STPM: BBB
    A-Levels: AAB – BBB
  • UEC: 14 points from 5 subjects (excluding Chinese Language, and Bookkeeping and Accounts)
  • IB: 30 points overall
  • Mathematics requirement: Grade A (SPM/ GCSE/ IGCSE)
  • English requirement: SPM 1119 (GCE-O)/OGCSE English as a second language: Grade B or higher
  • IELTS: 6.5 overall, with no element below 5.5
  • Or an equivalent recognised English Language qualification
